What a morning up in the pitches on Thursday. Blessington Gaa hosted a mixed blitz for local 3rd and 4th classes. The future is as bright as we want it to be when we see the skills on display today. 106 girls and boys from Blessington No 1 school ,Gaelscoil na Lochanna and St Mary’s SNS took part. They were all a credit to their schools and families. Thanks to the transition years for their coaching, organising and refereeing. Well done to Molly and Jonathan for making this transition year program happen. Thanks also to John Murphy, Orla Dolan and Laura Foley and Mick Moran for what they did to help. Thanks to all schools and teachers for making everything simple. The pitches were class Eoin. Mixed local blitz next Thursday for 1st and 2nd classes. We’re gonna live forever!

Well done to JP for organising.

We would like to wish a very happy Birthday to the bravest young girl in our club Aoife Keogh. We were all sorry to hear that you had to go into hospital on your 14th Birthday. Wishing you a speedy recovery and we look forward to sharing some cake with you very soon. Best wishes from all your friends in Blessington GAA.

Allen Cup semi final

Blessington vs St Nicks

We travelled out to Dunlavin for Saturdays  semi final. First half playing against the wind we dominated for the majority of the half scoring some lovely goals while we did switch off for a 10 minute spell where we struggle to win our kick outs and fair play to St Nicks they took their opportunity scoring some lovely points.

Half time score Blesso leading by 5 in a tight game.

Second half Blesso playing with a strong wind. We stepped up and kept pressure on making sure we came away with the win.

We had a number of lads who not feeling the best today but we moved things around and made sure everyone got their game time.

Thanks to our professional umpires

Thanks to huge crowd cheering on the lads

See you all training Monday will

Details of the final to follow.

U8 Boys

A busy week for our U8s with two fixtures in the NKL. We played Ballymore earlier in the week then Kilcullen, both away matches. Thanks to both clubs for hosting, great to get the lads out for matches and wrap up the lads couple of weeks of this season on a high. Special mention to the U7s lads that came  up to help us out today: Oisin, Oscar, Josh and Tom, who absolutely smashed it!

Ladies Football

U16 Girls

Under 16 girls finished off their 2024 season with a trip to KBowl, different kind of ball to get to grips with but it was some craic. I think some of the mentors have found their calling and who knows Blesso Bowling team could be one for 2025.

Thanks to all the girls for their commitment and efforts during the year, they are a super bunch, thanks to all the parents for putting up with the polls, the match reports, helping the girls being available for training and games, thanks to Under 14 girls- without ye we couldn’t have fulfilled games, much appreciated by all of us mentors. A quick year but a fun year. Best of luck to all the girls for next season, those staying with 16’s and those moving on. Never stop believing in yourself- it’s all you will ever need and everything else will follow. Blesso is lucky to have ye all.
